WORLD-CLASS ART VITAL SIGNS:

         ARTISTS AND THE BODY

MoMA presents Vital Signs: Artists and the Body, a major
exhibition exploring the intersection of abstraction and the
human form. Featuring over 100 works by approximately 65
artists, many of whom are women or gender-expansive, the
exhibition examines how artists have used representations of
the body to challenge social constructs of gender, race, and
identity. Spanning the 20th century to today, the exhibition
highlights both celebrated and newly acquired works from
MoMA’s collection. Artists such as Claude Cahun, Adrian
Piper, Frida Kahlo, and Lorna Simpson explore themes of self-
perception, transformation, and the materiality of the body,
while others, including Bhupen Khakhar, Belkis Ayón, and Ted
Joans, imagine new relationships between the individual and
the collective. Leadership support for the exhibition is provided Rosemary Mayer. Galla Placidia, 1973. Satin, rayon, nylon, cheesecloth, nylon
