YET ANOTHER MORNING:
DRAWING IN THE MODERNA
MUSEET COLLECTION
Moderna Museet Stockholm presents Yet Another Morning
– Drawing in the Moderna Museet Collection, a wide-ranging
exhibition celebrating the art of drawing in all its forms.
Featuring around 100 works by Swedish and international
artists, the show explores drawing’s evolution across more
than a century, from traditional pen-on-paper compositions to
experimental approaches using unconventional materials and Egon Schiele, Self Portrait in Crouching Position, 1913 Graphite and
dimensions. Remarkably, 90% of the works have never been gouache on paper, 32,3 × 47,5 cm. Photo: Albin Dahlström/Moderna

Curated by Annika Gunnarsson, Yet Another Morning
highlights drawing as both an observational tool and a means Moderna Museet holds Sweden’s largest collection of
of expressing the unseen, whether emotions, thoughts, or modern and contemporary drawings, with approximately
social critique. The exhibition juxtaposes meticulous, fine-line 12,000 works. This exhibition marks the museum’s
drawings by Ann Böttcher and Johanna Karlsson with bold, first major survey of the medium since taking over the
gestural strokes by Jean Fautrier and Alexander Rodchenko. Nationalmuseum’s modern and contemporary drawing

It also features introspective self-portraits by Egon Schiele,
Helene Schjerfbeck, and Bjarne Melgaard, alongside Robert
Smithson’s monumental spiral of earth and stone and Joakim
Pirinen’s intricate miniature, measuring just 6.6 x 5.7 cm.
Drawing’s immediacy and accessibility make it a universal
language. Yet Another Morning encourages visitors to engage
directly with the medium, offering tables where they can sit
down, pick up a pen, and create their own works.
