The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, in collaboration
with the Museum of Fine Arts – Hungarian National
Gallery, Budapest, presents Masterpieces on Paper
from Budapest, a significant exhibition celebrating over
seven centuries of artistic expression through prints and
drawings. This presentation highlights approximately 150
works, offering a journey through the evolution of works
on paper, from the Renaissance to contemporary art.
A curatorial conversation will provide insight into the
exhibition’s themes and highlights, featuring Kinga
Bódi, Curator of Prints and Drawings at the Museum of
Fine Arts, Budapest, and Marta Blàvia, Curator at the
Guggenheim Museum Bilbao.

This discussion explores the historical and technical
significance of the works on display, reflecting on their
enduring relevance.
The Museum of Fine Arts – Hungarian National Gallery in
Budapest is recognized for its extensive art collections,
spanning Antiquity to the 21st century. Among its
holdings, the Collection of Prints and Drawings stands
out, encompassing approximately 9,000 drawings and
100,000 prints by European artists. This exhibition
presents a distinguished selection of artworks by
Albrecht Dürer, Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Rembrandt,
Francisco de Goya, Miklós Barabás, Henri de Toulouse-
Lautrec, Pablo Picasso, Egon Schiele, Victor Vasarely,
Vera Molnar, Judit Reigl, Dóra Maurer, Georg Baselitz,
Katharina Grosse, and Gerhard Richter, among others.
These works illuminate centuries-old artistic traditions
while revealing the enduring innovative potential of
WORLD of ART 27
